Artist Bio

Kathryn Jill Johnson received her MFA from The University of Georgia, and her BA from the University of South Florida. Currently she is an Associate Professor of Painting and Drawing at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.

She has exhibited nationally and throughout the southeast, including group exhibitions at the Tennessee Valley Museum of Art, University of Montevallo and the ARC Gallery in Chicago.

She has mounted solo exhibitions the Lowe Mill Arts Center, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the Firehouse Gallery in Georgia to name a few.

Her mixed media works combine drawn images with layers of color and abstract marks. The works present a fractured narrative that suggests both humor and pathos.
